Campus contract extended
Zoom can continue to be used for the time being

Due to the requirements of the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (HBDI), the TU Darmstadt, together with other universities, has decided to use BigBlueButton as an alternative to Zoom. However, Zoom can still be used for the coming summer semester.
Until now, the use of Teams, Zoom and other collaborative video conferencing systems has been tolerated by the Hessian data protection authorities. In the winter semester 21/22, the Hessian Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (HBDI) called on the TU Darmstadt and other universities to offer a solution that meets data protection requirements by the summer semester 22.
The TU Darmstadt will now additionally introduce BigBlueButton (BBB) as an alternative video conferencing platform together with a partner university.
For a transitional period, both systems will be available in parallel. The campus contract for Zoom has been extended for this purpose. The extent to which BBB will already be available at the beginning of the summer semester is currently still open. We will inform you here as soon as possible.
