Adjustment of Zoom Meeting security settings as of 01.12.2022

2022/11/30

As of 01 December 2022, the security configurations for Zoom meetings and webinars, which were previously only a recommendation, will be automatically preset in order to reduce the disruptive potential of Zoom events.

From the beginning of December, meetings will be forced to activate at least one of the following security settings (at least the “Waiting Room” configuration). From this date, meetings must have one of the following settings enabled:

  • Passcode
  • Waiting room
  • Access only for registered users

This adjustment tightens our previous recommendation to hold meetings in this configuration. This adjustment is intended to minimise the susceptibility of Zoom meetings to disruption.

Webinars

For webinars, the use of a passcode as a security setting will be mandatory from 01 December 2022. From this date, a passcode will be generated when a new webinar is created.

Existing webinars are not affected by the changes.
