The new building is home to offices and study areas for students. The 603sqm (now 806sqm) student cultural centre was given space on the ground floor for café operations and in the basement for concerts and events

From the roof of the administration building, the camera looks south-west towards Darmstadt's Residenzschloss, which was the former administrative seat of the landgraves and, from 1806 to 1919, of the grand dukes of Hesse-Darmstadt.
