In an initial phase until 10 August 2025, users can choose the time of the update themselves. From 11 August 2025, the upgrade will be actively distributed, i.e. users will receive an update request that they can postpone a few times, as is usual with other updates.

The update will be an in-place upgrade, i.e. a complete reinstallation of the operating system on the device is not required. Applications and data are retained.

The aim is to have all managed devices upgraded to Windows 11 before the EndOfLife date.
