Malfunction at the central mail gateway of the TU Darmstadt

External e-mails could not be delivered on 23.03.2023 from approx. 8.30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.


Due to a malfunction at the central mail gateway of the TU, incoming e-mails from outside were rejected by means of an automated notification during the mentioned period.

Due to the malfunction of the central mail gateway, senders received an e-mail, usually in English, stating that the message could not be delivered to one or more recipients. At the end of this email, there is technical information that the email contains a virus. The sender address of these messages is usually

E-mails have to be resent because there is no subsequent delivery.

Rejected e-mails are not automatically delivered later.

External senders should therefore resend the e-mails they sent to recipients and functional addresses at the TU Darmstadt during the period mentioned.

Outgoing and TU-internal e-mail traffic was not affected.
