The Unified Communications project of the University Computing Centre (HRZ) was launched in January 2025. The aim is to create a Unified Communications solution for TU Darmstadt. Current information and details about the project can be found on the HRZ website.
Since January 2025, the HRZ has been working on the UC changeover project (UC stands for Unified Communications) to replace the existing heterogeneous telecommunications system at TU Darmstadt with a modern, IP-based Unified Communications solution.
Over the next three years, all affected workstations will be successively switched over to softphones. The Webex client will replace the previous Jabber client. The changeover will affect all TU Darmstadt employees with a telephone connection and/or a Jabber client as well as the Student Affairs and external organisations that use the HRZ telephone service.
Unmanaged devices will be integrated into the changeover process via decentralised IT officers. For centrally managed workstations, installation is carried out automatically via the software depot.
Users of affected devices will be informed in good time before the changeover.
