Review of the 20th AdminDay at TU Darmstadt
An anniversary filled with exciting topics and productive discussions
2025/11/24
At the 20th AdminDay, IT administrators from TU Darmstadt met to discuss the latest developments, future initiatives and pressing challenges.
On 7 November 2025, the 20th AdminDay of TU Darmstadt took place in the Wilhelm Köhler Hall. More than 150 IT administrators from the faculties, institutes and central units came together to exchange information on the latest developments and to network.
The event was opened by Michael Starke (university computing centre, HRZ), who has organised the AdminDay since its inception. In his welcome address, he emphasised the importance of the event as a key fixture in TU Darmstadt’s IT community and the valuable opportunity it provides for regular exchange on central topics. Dr. Johannes Braun (Head of HRZ) reflected on the event’s evolution and highlighted how, over the years, AdminDay has become an important platform for dialogue and collaboration.
The programme featured a variety of practice-oriented presentations. Dr. Dominik Demuth (FB11) introduced the TUData service, while the HRZ’s IDM team explained the IDM transition. Leif Pullich (HRZ) provided an overview of the forthcoming UC telephony migration and demonstrated the benefits the new telephony solution will bring to TU Darmstadt.
Further items on the agenda included “cisOS”, presented by Pascal Widera (Infosec), as well as the migration from VMware to Proxmox, introduced by Christian Hickel (FB13) and Martin Bargiel (CORAmaps GmbH).
After the lunch break, which also offered opportunities for networking and in-depth discussions, the focus shifted to security-related topics: Dr Oliver Wagner (Greenbone) spoke about vulnerability management, and Jochen Becker (Infosec) shared insights into the latest developments in information security. Finally, Markus Wehr (HRZ) addressed the topic of public PC pools and outlined how the integration of M365 and Intune could eventually replace these systems.
To conclude the event, Dr. Johannes Braun provided an outlook on the HRZ’s upcoming plans and projects.
The 20th AdminDay was a great success – with engaging presentations, stimulating discussions and a valuable opportunity for exchange among the various IT stakeholders across the University. The next event is expected to take place in spring 2026.
We would like to thank all participants and speakers, and we are already looking forward to the next AdminDay!
