Windows client management for admins
Standardization and management of IT workplaces

The service Windows Client Management for Admins enables you to standardize and manage IT workstations in a Windows environment for employees of your institution. Using the infrastructure provided by the HRZ, your IT staff, as local administrators, can independently and efficiently manage and support the equipment and corresponding resources of your users.

For capacity reasons, the service is unfortunately not fully available for new customers. If you are interested, please contact so that we can discuss your requirements and a procedure for taking over your IT workstations.

User groups

Departments, deaneries and central institutions of TU Darmstadt (except the Central Administration (ZV)) can order this service and anyone with a TU-ID can use it.

Service characteristics

Windows client management for admins offers...

  • an infrastructure for the standardized management of Windows workstations (PCs/notebooks)
  • the equipment of the devices with current software
  • uniform basic and security settings and security patches that cannot be changed by the user
  • network drives for individual and shared storage of business data
  • instruction and support for local administrators
  • central print queues for network printers
  • a remote maintenance system for the local Admin

Organisational

  • permanent employment of a local administrator by the client (no student assistants)
  • cost absorption in case of necessary renewals by the client

Technical

  • all users to be supported need to have a TU-ID
  • operation of the wired network by the HRZ
  • service agreement on the operation of a firewall for this network with the HRZ
  • installation and operation of the computers according to the requirements for device management by local administrators.

This offer is subject to a fee.

The costs for setup, ongoing management of the agreed end devices, support in the event of malfunctions and other service orders can be found in the currently valid price list. The investment and license costs for end devices and software are to be borne by the customer.
