The TU-ID is the personal access to the central IT systems of the TU and thus an important work tool – and also a central access ID for new employees. For a smooth start, there is a need for action regarding the application for the TU-ID already a few days before the start of work. Inform new colleagues about this.

With the first day of work, new employees not only expect a new working environment, but also new systems and work equipment. The TU-ID has an important function here – it is, so to speak, the personal key to all central IT systems of the TU Darmstadt, such as TUCaN, Moodle or e-mail.

Are you involved in the recruitment process as a personnel officer, manager or colleague? Then inform your new employees about the necessary steps – even before their first day at work.

This is how the activation process of the TU-ID for new employees works

Step 1: Receive activation code

New employees need to contact the HRZ-Service 2-3 working days before starting work. They need the personnel number, private email address and the name of the institution they work for within the TU. After checking the data, the letter with the activation code will be sent by e-mail.

Step 2: Activation

The TU-ID is activated via the IDM portal. There you will be guided step by step through the activation process.

The following information is required for activation:

  • Activation code from the activation letter
  • Date of birth
  • Matriculation number/personal number/GuP number

The TU-ID should also be communicated directly to the respective manager so that he or she can already take care of the application for a telephone number and the corresponding access authorisations.
