Mandatory use of the student email inbox

To ensure reliable delivery of all study-related information, the use of the student email inbox is mandatory for all students at TU Darmstadt in accordance with the Enrolment Regulations of TU Darmstadt (ESO).
Students previously had the option of setting up a forwarding of their student email address to an external email address in the IDM portal without using an email inbox provided by TU Darmstadt. This option will be switched off as of 04.09.2024.
The students concerned will be asked by email starting 24.07.2024 to deactivate the forwarding and to use their personal email inbox. After the deadline, the forwarding will be deactivated in the IDM portal automatically.
If students wish to forward student emails to another email address, this can be set up in the of the student mailbox (see webmail interface (opens in new tab) ). In this case, the students are responsible for the correct delivery of the forwarded emails. instructions

As part of the Online Access Act (Online Zugangsgesetz OZG), all universities are obliged to digitalise services such as enrolment and re-registration. In future, the postal delivery of notifications will be replaced by electronic delivery to the student email inbox. To ensure reliable delivery of all study-related information, the use of the student email mailbox has been regulated in section 1 para. 12 and 29 para. 1 of the (opens in new tab) (ESO). As the forwarding to private email addresses does not guarantee deliverability, only the student mailbox at TU Darmstadt will be used for this purpose in future.
