This camera was set up to provide documentation of the construction project involving Wissenschafts- und Kongresszentrum (WKZ), Darmstadt's congress centre “darmstadtium”. This project is a cooperation between TU Darmstadt and the city itself. It was initiated in 2004 and opened on the 6th of December, 2007.

Currently, the according web cam shows a view of the centre's main entrance and part of City-Ring. The lowest centre of the camera's frame displays parts of the city's historic town wall from 1330. This is the oldest part of Darmstadt, which was carefully restored, preserved and integrated into the newly constructed congress centre's architecture. The top right of the web cam frame shows Darmstadt's landmark, Hochzeitsturm, a tower located at Mathildenhöhe.
