The available storage capacity in next.Hessenbox is 100 GB for TU Darmstadt employees and 30 GB for TU Darmstadt students. We recommend reviewing in advance which data should be migrated and archiving any data that is no longer needed elsewhere.
Important note
Only migrate folders that you are the owner of. Folders that have been shared with you by other people must be migrated and shared again by them. If you migrate such folders yourself, you will lose the connection to the original owner and to the other users.
You can recognise folders shared by other people by the name of the person sharing the folder in brackets next to the folder name. Alternatively, you can click on ‘To me’ in the sidebar.
To transfer your data to the new system, follow these steps:
Step 1: Prepare data migration
Clean up the data in your previous Hessenbox (). Delete any data you no longer need, reducing the amount to be migrated to only the files you will require in the future. https://hessenbox.tu-darmstadt.de
You can archive files that are no longer needed by downloading them and storing them on a separate storage medium. Then, upload the data you still need to next.Hessenbox.
Step 3: Upload the downloaded data to next.Hessenbox
Login to the next.Hessenbox at the following address:
Select the Technical University of Darmstadt at the bottom of the homepage and log in with your TU-ID and your personal password.
You have two options for uploading your data:
Step 4: Check uploaded data
Check whether the folders/files have been successfully uploaded.
In the next step, you must define the access rights. Separate instructions are available for this purpose in the . next.Hessenbox authorisations instructions
Note: To ensure that the data on the old Hessenbox DA is no longer edited, we recommend removing the existing authorisations for the invited persons there.
