The DTO is the coordinating point of contact for digitalisation projects at TU Darmstadt – it provides advice on new ideas, manages the digitalisation portfolio and the prioritisation of digital projects, coordinates the Digitalisation Sounding Board (SBD) and TUDa’s involvement in the Hessian Digital Pact for Higher Education (HDPH), and drives forward cross-cutting projects such as the TUDa App step by step using agile methods.

The “Security & Compliance” unit is responsible for information security management and data protection at the HRZ and for the services operated and provided by the HRZ.

The division “Support & Consulting” seamlessly combines expert support, advice and communication to create a comprehensive service experience for all users. By providing prompt and long-term support, it helps users find their way and ensures that the HRZ is perceived as a professional organisation.

The “Software & Applications” division is responsible for the secure, reliable and efficient operation, as well as the ongoing development, of core applications provided by the HRZ, and oversees campus software management. User-focused solutions – ranging from on-premises to cloud-based – provide optimal support for day-to-day work.

The “Backend Infrastructure & Authentication” division provides TU Darmstadt with fundamental, standardised and highly available IT infrastructures and identity services. The target audience for most of the services offered by this department is other IT staff at the HRZ and TU Darmstadt.

The “Central Infrastructure” division ensures reliable voice communication by operating a high-performance communications solution and supports collaboration; it equips central and decentralised premises with the latest media technology, provides the central network infrastructure (LAN, WAN and WLAN), and manages the necessary technical foundations (cabling, server rooms) for the reliable operation of the IT infrastructures at TU Darmstadt.

As a strategic management unit, the department is responsible for the HRZ’s commercial and administrative processes. In addition, it plans and manages the allocation of resources (budget, staff and premises), ensures transparency and provides sound decision-making support for the HRZ’s management.
